Do you always try and hit your clubs as far as they will go? Especially with your shorter clubs, mainly wedges, have you ever hit one fat and short or thin and really long?
You may have even hit the ball really well, only to see it still come up short and/or spin back too far.
Next time you play, instead of hitting your 60 degree or sand wedge as far as you can, try this:
- drop down a club
- grip a little down the grip
- and hit a three quarter shot.
Make sure to turn through the ball to a balanced finish. Your swing will be more in control getting you more consistent and solid contact and misses that are not as severe. With a slower swing and less loft, you will also reduce the spin on the ball giving you more control.
